Ryan Murphy parle un peu plus de ses projets pour Netflix.

Dans une interview pour le Time, le créateur d’American Horror Story a dévoilé quelques informations supplémentaires sur ses séries et documentaires à venir.

Il donne, par exemple, des nouvelles de Hollywood qui devrait arriver en mai sur Netflix. La série en hommage à la ville à paillettes aura au casting Holland Taylor, compagne de Sarah Paulson dans la vie, et Patti Lupone. “Ce sera un regard sur Hollywood et l’industrie du sexe, comme tout et pourtant rien n’a changé” explique Ryan Murphy.

Ewan McGregor rejoint la troupe de Murphy. Les deux hommes travailleront ensemble sur une minisérie à propos du designer Halston. McGregor incarnera ce magicien de la couture minimaliste devenu une star internationale en 1970.

Côté comédie musicale, si l’on sait déjà que Ryan Murphy va adapter The Prom à l’écran avec Nicole Kidman et Meryl Streep, il s’attaque aussi à un monument de Broadway: A chorus Line. L’histoire revient sur des artistes qui auditionnent pour être retenus dans un spectacle qui se monte. La minisérie devrait être composée de 10 épisodes.

Trois documentaires sont en cours de développement.  Ryan Murphy travaille sur un projet autour d’Andy Warhol, qui sera, lui aussi,  fait de 10 épisodes. “Qui est réellement la personne qui a fait toutes ces choses et qui a changé nos vies ?” s’interroge-t-il.
A Secret Love reviendra sur deux amantes qui ont décidé de vivre leur amour ouvertement dans les années 1980.
Pour finir, il compte créer un docu-série sur les personnes les plus stylées de la planète.

Il a également en tête de travailler avec sa muse, Jessica Lange, sur un projet sur Marlene Dietrich dans les années 60. Mais aucune date n’est pour le moment annoncée. Pour rappel, dans American Horror Story Freak Show, Lange interprète Elsa Mars, follement jalouse du succès de l’actrice allemande.
De plus, Lange avait déjà participé à un photoshoot pour le New York Magazine dans lequel elle était déguisée en Dietrich.

Tous ces projets rejoignent donc Ratched avec Sarah Paulson (qui est en montage), The Boys in the Band (dont le tournage est terminé) et The Politician sur Netflix.
Sans oublier que Ryan Murphy travaille toujours sur 9-1-1, American Horror Story ou encore American Crime Story pour FX.

For someone with at least 15 projects in the works, Ryan Murphy is unusually hands-on: writing, directing and producing. He still has two shows on Fox and three on the cable network FX. That would be a busy slate for anyone—but this is the peak-content era, where each day seems to bring news of another creator defecting from established studios and networks to streaming services, writes @samlansky. @mrrpmurphy is, by the numbers, the biggest: last year he departed Fox, his longtime home, for an unprecedented deal with Netflix, valued at $300 million—the most lucrative TV pact in history. For the streamer, he’s been developing a new roster of projects, at a scale, scope and variety that’s unmatched even in the Wild West of the content boom. First up: Murphy is prepping the Sept. 27 release of @the_politician, his first show for Netflix, about a sharp, crackling series about an ambitious young man, played by @bensplatt, running for high school office. You want shocking violence, Machiavellian teens, withering one-liners, @gwynethpaltrow having an affair with a horse trainer played by @martinanavratilova, musical numbers, Munchausen syndrome by proxy, and Jessica Lange in gold lamé? That might sound like a lot. But it’s also calibrated for a mass audience—because Murphy’s sensibility has become the sensibility of the mainstream. “His work is a reflection of his own interests and sensibilities, but it’s broader than that,” says Cindy Holland, who runs original programming at Netflix. “He’s absorbing influences in pop culture to create these unique collages that appeal to many different groups.” Read more at the link in the bio.
