Les Oscars 2020 ont eu lieu cette nuit à Los Angeles. Janelle Monáe s’est chargée d’ouvrir la cérémonie avec un numéro musical puisqu’il n’y avait, une fois de plus, pas de présentateur. Elle a commencé par la chanson interprétée par Tom Hanks dans Un ami extraordinaire, puis a enchaîné, entre autres, avec I’m still standing d’Elton John avec l’aide de Billy Porter.

Chris Rock et Steve Martin ont ensuite pris le relai pour le (très drôle) monologue d’ouverture. La richesse du PDG d’Amazon Jeff Bezos, le manque de femmes dans la catégorie meilleur réalisateur, la durée de The Irishman sont certaines des blagues notables.
Côté récompenses et sans surprises, Brad Pitt (qui était trop touché et pressé par le temps pour nous régaler avec quelques blagues pendant son discours), Laura Dern, Joaquin Phoenix et Renée Zellweger repartent tous avec une statuette. Parasite, grand gagnant de la soirée, devient le premier film en langue étrangère à remporter la catégorie meilleur film.
